Individual and group learning

Practice exercises are aimed at consolidating the concepts taught during lessons.
They are intended to train the learner to apply the theory to real situations, solving problems and finding effective solutions. Practically speaking, for group work a class of trainees is divided into smaller groups, each of which is assigned a task, a “mandate”, to be completed in set time frame and then presented to the plenary session.

The effectiveness of group exercises depends on how far the task assigned is relevant to real situations the trainees will find themselves confronted with in their day to day work experience. Individual practice, even more than group work, requires concentration and individual study in order to consider all the possible solutions to a specific problem. It provides the trainee with a valuable opportunity to find a personal interpretation of the task and “mandate” that has been assigned.
