Case Studies
A case study is a description of a particular problem, presented to trainees in enough detail to enable them to decide on appropriate line of action. The case study method simulates real work problems, is relevant to the trainees’ own experience and knowledge, and thus involves them actively in the learning process, forcing them to apply learned theory to practical situations.
Finding solutions for the case study offers trainees an opportunity for risk free experimentation and provides an effective “training ground” for them to test and develop their capacity to analyze complex situations, to identify the possible options in solving the problems, to choose what they think is the most suitable line of action, with the added bonus of being able to compare and contrast the different solutions adopted by the other group members, and/or by the other groups.
