Mainstreaming Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability
through Executive Education
EABIS workshop, hosted and co-organised by Fondazione ISTUD
30 June - 1 July 2010, Stresa, Italy
Economic conditions have focused line managers’ attention almost exclusively on operational functioning and efficiency. This makes the CSR or Sustainability Managers’ job harder than ever, because to fully succeed he or she needs to coordinate with line managers and integrate CSR into business processes.
Executive Education providers can be key partners in companies’ efforts to mainstream CSR; of course, they need to be keenly aware of line managers’ needs and pressures in order to be effective.
We have designed this Workshop as a small, informal yet structured forum in which representatives from both the supply and demand side of the Executive Education equation can share ideas, experience and information.
The day will allow participants to achieve a fuller understanding of what is needed to deepen and improve the way in which business and their academic partners can work together. Participants will benefit from the sharing among peers of concrete cases and practical experience on this important yet challenging topic. Together participants will explore the strengths , limits, challenges and opportunities involved in various approaches. The day aims at helping all participants gain applicable knowledge that can lead to increased effectiveness.
Indeed, the ultimate objective of the Workshop is to help each participant become more a more effective and strategic partner when working on projects that aim to transform a company through CSR and Sustainability.
When: 30 June - 1 July 2010
Where: Lake Maggiore, Stresa, Italy
Programme: The workshop is designed to provide an informal and productive forum for discussing, sharing and promoting knowledge on mainstreaming CR. This will be done through case studies, working groups and interactive plenary discussions.
Please see the draft agenda for more details
Who should attend: Attendees will come from both the academic and business communities from around Europe, allowing a useful exchange of ideas and experience from both the “supply” and “demand” side of Executive Education on this topic.
- Corporates: Human Resources / Learning, Heads of CSR/Sustainability, all of whom with a helicopter perspective of how the company goes about developing and implementing organisational learning and the related CR and sustainability agenda within the organisation
- Business schools: Executive Education Program Directors and Senior Faculty Staff Members actively engaged on CR and Sustainability topics.
Why attend: Companies and leading Executive Education providers frequently work together in partnership but today’s frenetic pace usually forces people to concentrate solely on developing and delivering a specific project; rarely can business and education partners spend time on other matters that might allow them to improve the overall way they work together, such as more fully understanding each others’ needs, processes, objectives and aspirations. The day will serve:
- for corporates to identify key issues, challenges and the possibility to exchange good practices regarding the organizational transformation processes on Leadership and Sustainability among peers and academia based on practical experience
- to foster business-education dialogue on the role of executive education in supporting companies during the process of organisational transformation oriented to CR and Sustainability
- to discuss concrete cases of training and education programmes highlighting limits and strengths of existing approaches
- gain insights into the decision-making process around the topic that will allow both the business and academic community to serve as more effective partners as they work to develop and improve CR programmes, either from a “supplier” or “buyer” perspective
